A premier waterfront dining destination is set to unveil its final venue on Thursday, boasting rooftop views, a celebrated head chef and an in-house dim-sum master.

Naldham House by hospitality powerhouses DAP & Co (Walters Steakhouse, Gresham Bar, Popolo Italian), is the multifaceted revival of the heritage-listed former Australia United Steam Navigation Company Building at 33 Felix St in Brisbane’s CBD, and is currently home to the existing Naldham House Brasserie and Terrace and Club Felix,

On Thursday, the doors will open to the venue’s third and final venue, elevated Cantonese restaurant The Fifty Six.

It promises to deliver an expectation-challenging dining experience that will bring together traditional Cantonese cuisine with local produce to redefine the cuisine in the city and reflect the cultural influence of Chinese immigration to Queensland.

Head chef Gerald Ong brings vast experience, hailing from venues like Chairman Hong Kong and Mrs Wang and Tigerlane in Canberra, and is joined in the kitchen by sous chef and ‘dim sum master’ Ka Wai Kwok.

“The Fifty Six is a beautiful restaurant that will enhance the vibrant food scene of Brisbane and offer a taste of Hong Kong style. I am bringing my love and passion for Cantonese cuisine, and mixing it with modern techniques which I believe will be a very special dining experience”, said Ong.

With innovative hero bites like tea quail egg with caviar and salted egg prawns, The Fifty Six’ menu has been designed to share.

Unexpected favourites can be found in the venue’s larger plate offering, with sticky cumin margra lamb riblets with eggplant and dry-aged, five-spiced duck with Davidson plum sauce proudly nestled among more traditional fare like lemon chicken and sweet and sour Berkshire pork.

The extensive dim sum menu will feature the classic prawn toast and xiao long bao alongside specialties like scallop siu mei, which are made in-house by Kwok each day.

Perfectly paired with Ong’s menu is the carefully curated beverage offering, which is set to draw from those vibrant Cantonese flavours highlighted in the food, sharing those ingredients between the kitchen and bar.

The Fifty Six will also offer three distinct tasting menus, giving guests a chance to sample the best bites from across the board, including a vegetarian tasting menu.

Bookings are open from February 13.
