Survey suggests Uber contributed $10.4 billion to Australian economy

Australia’s most well-known food delivery service, Uber Eats has officially launched in Bundaberg.

As of today, orders can be placed for delivery from local restaurants including Sushi Lovers, Ensoku and @ James’s Place.

Uber Eats said a 2021 research report showed Uber’s platforms encouraged Australians to support local restaurants and merchants which they would otherwise not have access to, leading to $889 million in additional revenue.

@ James’s Place owner James Lee, said the opportunity for additional revenue meant signing his business up to Uber Eats was a no-brainer.

“The arrival of Uber Eats in Bundaberg will help our business ensure all of our customers are able to have their favourite delicious dishes delivered,” he said.

“Being on the app allows us to connect with a demographic of customers who prefer to do everything digitally.”

Mr Lee, who has also partnered with Menulog and DoorDash, said he was excited to offer his best-selling menu items on a third food delivery platform.

Our most popular dish is the Double More Cheeseburger from our burger range or our James’s Original KFC Korean fried chicken from our Korean menu,” he said.

UberEats will now compete with the rum city’s longest-running food delivery app, Menulog, and recent newcomer, DoorDash through a number of variables such as cost of service and delivery fees.

Speaking of rum, Uber Eats has also collaborated with Bundaberg Rum to create a limited edition bottle with a French twist to mark the app’s launch.

1000 free limited edition bottles of Maison de Bundy Blanc de Cane, otherwise known as Sugarcane Champers, will be up for grabs.

The limited edition Maison de Bundy’s Blanc de Cane has been designed to commemorate Bundaberg’s new alcoholic ginger beer and to celebrate the convenience of being able to order premium alcoholic beverages on Uber Eats along the east coast of Australia.

Unfortunately, the free bottles will not be made available to locals in Bundaberg.

People 18 years and over can snag their freebie from June 10-11 at the following venues by showing staff at the bar their Uber Eats app:

- Brisbane, Leonards and Dawn

- Sydney, The Civic Hotel

- Melbourne, The Sporting Globe (Richmond)

Bundaberg locals have been offered an incentive for the UberEats launch though, with a $20 promotion funded by the service to first orders who use the code BIGFOUR.

The food delivery service will compete with the likes of Menulog and DoorDash which have already been implemented in the Bundaberg region.
