Steven Trevor Taylor in Bundaberg Magistrates Court for drug possession

A Bundaberg man, walking around an industrial area in the late hours, caught the attention of police but it was the contents of his notepad which kept them on the case.

A 27-year-old unemployed man walking around one of Bundaberg’s industrial areas seemed “evasive” and “kept changing his story” when he was questioned about his activities.

Bundaberg Magistrates Court heard Steven Trevor Taylor was walking around Production St around 11pm on December 16, 2021, causing police to question him and carry out a search.

“The defendant emptied out his pocket and dropped a small notepad on the ground. He tried to ignore it,” Senior Constable Andrew Powis said.

When police checked the contents of the notebook, they found a list of names and dollar amounts which the court heard was “similar to a tick sheet”.

“On further search of the defendant’s body, police revealed a small, clip-seal bag containing a brown substance,” Snr Const Powis said.

Taylor admitted to police the substance was MDMA, the amount of which weighed .1g.

He pleaded guilty on Monday to possession of a dangerous drug.

Magistrate Trinity McGarvie placed Taylor on a three-month, $350 good behaviour bond under the condition he complete a drug diversion program.

A conviction was not recorded.
