A man in his 20s is fighting for life after his Toyota Landcruiser rolled and crashed north of Bundaberg early Tuesday morning.

The serious single-vehicle accident occurred about 5.40am at the corner of Clarkes Road and Mackellor Road at Lowmead, between Bundaberg and Tannum Sands, leaving the male driver in his 20s with serious head injuries.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said it was unknown what had caused the vehicle to roll.

The male driver and sole occupant of the Landcruiser was transported to Bundaberg Hospital, before being airlifted to Brisbane.

Police said later on Tuesday afternoon the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating the crash.

Investigations are ongoing.
