Alleged wounding after fight breaks out in Bargara

A teenager from Bundaberg North is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly attacked at Bargara on Friday night.

The boy’s aunt told the NewsMail she was “shocked” that her 16-year-old nephew had been allegedly attacked.

A 20-year-old man has now been charged in relation to the alleged serious assault.

Police were called to a park on Bauer St near the Esplanade at Bargara about 8.10pm, to reports of a disturbance.

Police will allege a fight took place between the teenager and a man, during which time the boy was allegedly slashed with a broken bottle.

The 16-year-old Bundaberg North boy was transported to Bundaberg Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 20-year-old Walkervale man, known to the teen, was taken into custody at the scene.

He has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and stealing.

His police bail was refused and he faced Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday.
