One serious after two car crash at Saint Johns Rd, near Bundaberg

Three people have been taken to hospital and firefighters cut a woman free from the wreckage of her car after a two-vehicle crash on a Bundaberg road.

One person is in a serious condition and two others being treated by paramedics following a shocking head-on crash only a few kilometres outside the Bundaberg city centre.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash on Saint Johns Rd, near its intersection with Elliott Heads Rd at Windemere, shortly after 7.30am Monday.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said firefighters were forced to cut a female free from one of the cars by removing the back door of the vehicle.

A QAS spokeswoman said the female was treated by critical care paramedics and then taken to the Bundaberg Hospital.

The QAS spokeswoman said the two other patients were also transferred to the Bundaberg Hospital in stable condition.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash on Saint Johns Rd, near its intersection with Elliott Heads Rd at Windemere, shortly after 7.30am Monday.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

The road has since reopened.
