Nicole Strathdee joins the Bundaberg NewsMail news team

The Bundaberg NewsMail team is growing, with former Bundaberg Showgirl Nicole Strathdee joining our newsroom.

Born and bred Bundaberg local Nicole Strathdee is the latest journalist to join the Bundaberg NewsMail newsroom.

The 26-year-old former Miss Bundaberg Showgirl grew up on the family sugarcane farm and has a strong passion for agriculture and the arts, having also worked as a groom near Newcastle in New South Wales.

She is completing a Bachelor of the Arts with a double major in History and Creative and Professional Writing and is delighted to be fulfilling a dream by joining the Bundaberg newsroom, along with Crystal-Rose Jones, Angeline Lowther, news director Jessica Grewal and editor Shelley Strachan.

“This is the first working opportunity I have had to put my degree to good use and step into my dream profession, and I am excited by the future possibilities,” Nicole said.

“I have worked in several various jobs from retail, to medical reception to a sweet potato farm. I hope to continue to write professionally in the future, and in my spare time I enjoy creating artwork and working on personal writing projects.

“I also have a few stock horses at home that I compete in showjumping and a few other disciplines.

“I also prioritise time with my partner and my family. My partner is French and we try to hop on a flight and visit his family in the south of France as often as we can.”
