Mining, construction, sales: 15 Queensland entry-level jobs offering six-figure salaries

High-paying jobs don’t have to be a luxury reserved only for corporate bosses – a number of jobs with a salary more than $100k are available now, with some needing zero experience.

Entry level jobs are beginning to seem like more of an anomaly, with most so-called “entry level” positions requiring two to five years of experience just to get your foot in the door.

But while well-paying jobs are becoming harder to find, the cost of living continues to rise, with Brisbane leading the nation’s capital cities in rising costs of rent, insurance, power and health costs.

From navy positions, sales roles, owner-driver jobs to subcontractors, here are 15 entry-level positions* with generous salaries, some paying up to $180k.

Navy Officer – $90k-$110k

Advertised as needing zero experience, the Royal Australian Navy are looking for new navy officers to employ on their ships and submarines based out of the Gold Coast, offering a generous salary of $90,000 to $100,000.

The position offers paid on-the-job training to teach applicants the basics of looking after a ship, from bridgemanship and navigation skills to assisting in identifying advancing aircraft, submarines and warships.

Eligible applicants must be at least 17 years old at the time of enlistment, an Australian citizen and have completed Year 12.

Offering free medical and dental, 16.4 per cent superannuation and subsidised housing, the starting salary is $97,456 after completing military and employment training.

For those looking to expand their skill set, the position also offers specialisation for those interested in becoming a submariner, which comes with a starting salary of $108,884.

Call Centre Appointment Setter – $80k-$110k

Looking to match the demand for solar installation, PowerSmart Solutions are looking for appointment setters to work at their Yatala call centre, offering up to $1500 to $2500 a week to fill the position.

While solar appointment setting experience is preferred but not essential, the job listing does require skills in appointment setting, fluency in English and good computer skills.

In return, PowerSmart Solutions provides a brand new call centre and office space, uncapped commissions, and no cold calling, only contacting people who contact the company directly.

Self-motivated individuals with great communication skills are encouraged to apply, with the job listing advertising a salary of $80,000 to $110,000.

Tanker Driver – $100k

Offering a competitive salary of circa $100k, Ampol is in search of their next tanker driver for their Roma depot in South Central Queensland, responsible for the transportation of petroleum products.

Providing training, a 25 per cent fuel discount on private vehicles and flexible leave options, the permanent full-time position requires a minimum of 35 hours a week on a day roster.

The only requirement is for applicants to have a heavy combination (HC) licence, with fuel experience desirable, but not essential.

Responsible for the operation of well-maintained vehicles, the position also provides overtime allowances.

HV Field Service Technician – $120k-$180k

Advertised that “no industry experience is required”, Ampcontrol in Mackay is looking for electricians that they can train on the job to become a HV (High Voltage) field service technician, responsible for statutory testing, commissioning and the maintenance of electrical installations.

A full-time job offering $120,000 to $180,000 per annum including overtime, the position comes with a company car, private health care discounts and the option to have a family friendly roster.

Providing training and mentoring from their pre-existing HV Field Service Technicians, potential hires must already have a Cert III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent), an Electrical Trade Certificate and a driver’s licence.

A second HV field service technician role is also available at Ampcontrol’s new Gladstone operation.

Caravan Park All-Rounder Couple – $104k-$108k

The job listing doesn’t list any specific previous experience, however, applicants must have an eye for detail, a commitment to the park’s policies, enthusiasm, good communication skills and availability for weekend and public holiday work.

The park itself is set among Carnarvon National Park across 100 acres, offering guests accommodation options such as cabins and camping sites, as well as facilities, including a camp kitchen, convenience shop and bush bar.

Junior to Intermediate Contract Administrator – $60k-$100k

Posted via recruitment company Hays, a Sunshine Coast commercial builder is looking for new junior to intermediate contract administrators to add to their team, offering a salary from $60,000 to $100,000.

The role which would help deliver multimillion-dollar commercial projects would involve the assistance with material procurement, gathering contractor pricing and basic administration tasks, including document control and filling out subcontracts.

While some experience is ideal, but not essential, the listing specifies that they are looking for locally based candidates from all walks of life in the construction industry, whether it be a trade background, someone who’s currently studying or has been working in the field for years.

Some of the commercial projects mentioned in the job advertisement, include schools, aged care, residential developments and more.

Sales Consultant – $80k+

The perfect entry-level position for car enthusiasts, Sunshine Toyota’s Currimundi dealership is looking for a new sales consultant to join their team, which comes with a killer salary of $80,000 with opportunity to earn more than $100,000.

A full-time role, the position is seeking outgoing, driven and passionate individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Helping customers find their next new Toyota vehicle, the role also comes with an extensive “Welcome” training program and mentoring from experienced Toyota car sales consultants.

The job listing doesn’t list any specific prerequisites to the role besides familiarity working in a fast-paced environment, an open mind and a passion for the role.

Truck Owner-Driver – $2660 to $3011 per week

Customised Group in Coopers Plains is on the search for 10-14 pallet truck owner-drivers to join their transport company as a subcontractor, paying an attractive $2660 to $3011 per week.

With salary dependent on the type of vehicle, drivers looking to apply must have a valid driver’s licence, full working rights in Australia and be willing to undergo a police check.

Including a variable fuel bonus, the position includes 10-hour shifts, a professional development assistance program and a job working for a resource partner for freight transport companies.

If applicants do not own a vehicle, the company can help drivers rent one at a discounted rate.

Regrouting/Sealing Technician – $1,500 to $3000 per week

Hiring people across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gold Coast, Noosa, Caboolture and North Lakes, Megasealed Bathrooms are on the lookout for regrouting and sealing technicians to add to their shower and balcony repair team.

Offering a generous pay rate of $1500 to $3000 a week, the job listing specifies that you do not need to be a qualified tradesman, but experience with grouting and caulking is advantageous.

Providing full training on Megasealed Bathroom’s products, services and two-part Epoxy systems, the role also offers regular weekly pay, Monday to Friday work and guaranteed confirmed appointments before you attend to the site.

To be eligible, applicants must be able to provide their own tools, have a driver's licence and mode of transport, and have or be ready to acquire an ABN, public liability insurance and a white card.

HR/HC Driver – $90k+

With the potential to earn more than $90,000 per year, Team Transport & Logistics are on the hunt for heavy rigid (HR) and heavy combination (HC) drivers to join their Brisbane-based company.

A full-time position with plenty of perks, including a driver referral bonus, available overtime work and free uniforms, the role offers applicants an opportunity to work at one of the state’s largest privately owned transport companies.

While the position does say a crane (CV) or forklift (LF) ticket is required, the job listing also states it will help enable and cover the cost of HR/HC licensed drivers to gain their fork or crane high-risk tickets.

Eligible applicants must have a clean driving history, a good knowledge of Brisbane metro and at least 12 months of HR/HC driving.

Concrete Field Tester – $100k+

Hunting for a tradie with a hidden interest in the science of cement, Heidelberg Cement Group is offering a $100,000+ average annual salary for an ‘enthusiastic’ Concrete Field Tester to fill a position within their team, at Skygate, located at the Brisbane Airport.

A typical 38-hour week on the job would include sampling and testing fresh concrete, collecting test samples from construction sites and assisting lab technicians to carry out compression and other strength tests on cured concrete specimens.

All you need is a Queensland manual driver‘s licence, the ability to use a lab app for data entry and the willingness to earn a hard day’s work.

The successful applicant will have a positive, friendly can-do attitude, patience and an even temperament as well as the ability to handle normal construction site issues.

Previous experience in a laboratory environment is highly regarded, but not required.

Real Estate Sales Person – $90k to $120k

Advertised as ‘no experience necessary’, Clark Real Estate in Lutwyche is offering a salary of $90,000 to $120,000 for a determined individual to start enter a “fast-paced, driven and highly rewarded career in real estate” as a sales person.

Priding themselves as a family-run company that’s built their reputation on their down-to-earth and ethical approach, Clark Real Estate is looking for applicants with a track record of triumph and results in “any domain”, plus a genuine interest in people.

Strong communication skills are essential and eligible applicants must have or be in the process of obtaining a Real Estate Salesperson registration.

The full-time position offers a guaranteed salary package with bonuses, in-house training in collaboration with the SMARTRE Training Greoup and full IT and administration support.

Rail Network Controller – $2000 to $2300 per week

Mackay Sugar, the second-largest sugar milling company in the country, has put out a call to find a rail network controller to direct safe and efficient train movements through its 850km cane rail network.

Situated on Peak Downs Hwy in Pleystowe, Mackay, the role is a fixed-term full-time position during crushing season, starting December 2023 and offering $2000 to $2300 gross per week.

Prerequisites for the job are simply applicants with excellent problem solving and analytical skills with knowledge of cane rail transport and experience with computer-operated rail scheduling desirable, but not necessary.

Responsible for controlling and supervising locomotive and traffic movements on the cane rail networks, the role comes with a two days, two nights, four days off roster, as well as extensive training, five weeks annual leave and discounted products and services from local Mackay businesses.

Sales and Marketing Agent – $80k-$100k

Looking for an ambitious and sports minded individual, The Marketing Collective is offering a yearly salary between $80k and $100k (OTE) to join their sales and marketing team in Maroochydore.

The successful applicant will be a highly self motivated, adaptable communicator, with a positive and achievement based mindset, a belief in continual development and great self management.
