A family is lucky to be alive after a near miss with a reckless driver on one of Bundaberg’s main roads.

Mother of three, Katie, was travelling on Branyan drive with her mother and children on December 29, when a white ute travelling in the opposite direction veered into her lane.

The young mum was forced to swerve off the road in order to avoid a head on collision and crashed into a nearby bush, narrowly missing a powerline pole.

The mother said she “almost collected a family on the footpath”.

Video footage captured by a witness travelling behind the white Isuzu D-Max, shows the ute drifting in and out of incoming traffic along Burnett Heads road.

A ute has been reported to have been driving erratically in the Bundaberg region.

The witness tailed the ute for an hour after the incident, even following the driver to a motel near Alexander Park.

He claimed the driver brake-checked him a number of times after realising he was being followed.

When police failed to arrive at the scene, the witness shared the address with the mother involved in the near-crash on Branyan drive.

The mother-of-three located the vehicle and confronted a pair sitting outside the property, claiming one of the men offered to pay her in cash to keep the incident to herself. She also believed the men seemed intoxicated and were not walking straight.

The witness claimed when they made calls to police, the licence plate he provided were not registered to the Isuzu D-Max.
