Tributes continue to flow for Jaydan Doorley, the 21-year-old Bargara man killed when his motorcycle collided with a ute in Kepnock on Thursday, October 12.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said on Tuesday the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating the cause of the crash, but Inspector Grant Marcus from Bundaberg Police said on Friday witnesses reported Jaydan’s motorcycle was travelling at an “extremely high speed” along Kepnock Rd, which “probably contributed to the crash”.
Accordingly, one of Jaydan’s best friends, Trigg Sutton, pleaded with motorists to take care so as to avoid more young lives being lost on our roads.
“I’d like to take this chance to once again preach the importance of being safe on the roads,” Trigg said.
“Time is precious, we don’t get no second chances!”
Trigg remembered the last time he spoke with his best mate, when Jaydan was looking forward to buying a new motorcycle, one of his great loves.
“He always loved his motorcycles and our last conversation was about him getting another dirt bike so we could go riding when I came to see him again,” he said.
“It’s such a tragedy and it still doesn’t feel real; I love him, everybody loved him and he will be dearly missed!”
In a moving tribute, Jaydan’s partner, Star-Maree Dunn, spoke of him as “the most bubbly, caring, adventurous guy” who had a special bond with her daughter, Daisy.
After first meeting Jaydan in 2016 through mutual friends, the couple fell deeply in love.
“Jaydan was the only person who truly understood me as I did with him, he didn’t open up to anyone but me,” Star-Maree said.
“He was the most bubbly, caring, adventurous guy, always on the go and up for anything.
“When it came to his sense of humour, that was the best quality about him and that is what attracted me the most to him.
“He also had a special bond with my daughter Daisy, that she’ll forever hold close to her heart.
“We went through many ups and downs as a young couple but our love for each other always brought us back together.
“I’m going to be so lost without him, he was my everything and taken from me and his family way to soon, he still had so much to live for.”
A video posted on social media by friend Rach Jones shows Jaydan, a landscaper at DC Landscaping and Fencing, celebrating with friends to the moving soundtrack of I Miss You by Blink-182.
Trigg echoed Star-Maree’s memories of Jaydan’s sense of humour, saying he would often “light up” the room with his fun-loving personality.
“His cheeky smile would light the place up and he always enjoyed being cheeky to all of us boys!,” he said.
“His presence was a big part of our friend group; he always made sure to make us crack up laughing.”
Another friend, Zacery Warren, said Jayden was “the life of the party”.
“Jayden really was the life of the party, he always had a genuine smile and he definitely knew how to put one on anyone’s face. He was truly a beautiful soul,” Zacery said.
Jayden’s mother, Sheree Kelly, created a GoFundMe fundraiser for Jayden’s funeral costs, saying her son “sadly lost his life … on his very loved motorbike”.
“Jaydan was a loving son, brother, partner,” Sheree said in a message included in the fundraiser page.
“He has been taken from his siblings and I far too soon … we weren’t prepared for this.”
