Bundaberg storm floods roads, triggers rescues and hospitalisation
At least one person has been rushed to hospital after his car was hit by lightning in the centre of Bundaberg during last night’s wild storm, with multiple rescues carried out, cars trapped in flood waters and roads still cut. VIDEO, PHOTOS

Heavy rainfall left several roads flooded across the Bundaberg region on Thursday, with emergency services responding to multiple incidents involving motorists trapped in floodwaters.
A total of 120mm of rain was recorded in Wednesday night’s storm, during which a car was hit by lightning in Bourbong Street at 6.19pm, leaving the driver with after-effects that required him being taken to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition from where he was later discharged.
The details of his injuries were unavailable.
Emergency services were called to Qunaba at 8.09pm, where a vehicle was caught in floodwater at the corner of Farquhars Road and Seaview Road.
The sole occupant was rescued uninjured.
Earlier in the evening, at 6.46pm, three occupants of another car were rescued from flood waters at the corner of Scotland Street and Eastgate Street.
They declined transport to hospital.
Meanwhile in Bargara, a female patient was rushed to hospital after a two vehicle crash on the corner Holland Street and Whalley Street at 6.45pm.
The woman, aged in her 50s, sustained injuries to her chest and reported having abdominal pain.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said the woman remained in her car and was treated by QFD personnel until paramedics arrived.
She said the injuries did not appear to be related to a medical episode prior to the crash.
The woman was taken to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition and later discharged.
Emergency services responded to reports of an abandoned car in floodwaters on Back Windermere Road at 7.40pm.
A police spokeswoman said the vehicle had gone of the road and no occupants were found at the scene.
Police were able to locate and contact the woman who owned the car.
Later in the evening, emergency services responded to a woman trapped in floodwaters on Ashfield Road.
Police arrived at the scene around 7.45pm and were able to rescue her.
Several roads remain closed due to flooding late Thursday morning, including Gin Gin Road at South Kolan, Elliott River Bridge on Goodwood Road near the Howletts Road intersection, and the Bargara Causeway.
Usshers Road in Sharon had water on the road, and motorists were advised to proceed with caution.
