Bundaberg local Michaela George to star on Australian Idol
A young mum said she knew it was time to push her music further when an audition ad for the iconic Aussie talent show appeared on her Facebook page.

A Bundaberg mum is hoping to catapult herself into the music industry and take home the major prize in the 2023 season of Australian Idol.
Michaela George said the opportunity to audition arose from a Facebook ad, and after years of holding herself back she decided to finally take the leap.
“I always let self-doubt and fear get in the way, and would say, ‘I’ll apply next year’, or ‘I’ll try that when I am more confident’,” she said.
“When I saw the Australia Idol auditions were back I knew I just had to try.”

Miss George, who is currently studying a Bachelor of began her journey into music at a young age, idolising the musical stars she watched on TV.
Growing up in the regional town of Gayndah, she said there weren’t a lot of musical opportunities she didn’t make for herself.
“When I was young I was gifted an electric keyboard and I would try and replicate songs while teaching myself how to play music,” she said.
“I bought myself my first guitar from Aldi and taught myself how to play from YouTube videos.”
The mum of one said her passion for music blossomed in high school through the support of a teacher.
“I struggled a bit in high school and my music teacher gave me that avenue to express myself,” she said.
While we can’t give any trade secrets away, Miss George said she had a positive audition experience and was most excited to audition for everyone’s favourite love-to-hate judge Kyle Sandilands.
“I just think he’s genuine and I really appreciate having people be straight-up with me,” she said.
The 2023 season will be hosted by Australian musical and TV personalities Ricki-Lee Coulter and Scott Tweedie, with judges Harry Connick Jr, Meghan Trainor, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark.
Bundaberg locals can cheer on their home grown musical talent on Monday, January 30 at 7:30pm on Channel 7 and 7 plus.
