A man was believed to have been lying on a road on Brisbane’s northside on Saturday night when he was struck by a minibus.
The accident happened in Pickering St, Gaythorne, about 9pm.
The 30-year-old was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Police Senior Sergeant Gary Aschenberger said it was unclear whether the man was intoxicated, but another vehicle had swerved to avoid him shortly before the accident.
“Another vehicle has seen him and swerved to the right of him lying on the road; the bus has been coming up behind and hasn’t seen him until the last minute, swerved to the left and then run over him,” he said.
“He has been taken up to the RBWH with life-threatening head injuries.”
The minibus was operated by Gaythorne RSL.
Sen Sgt Aschenberger said it would be towed for mechanical investigation.
Police investigations into the accident continue.
Meanwhile, another man was taken to hospital in a serious condition after a separate crash at Coorparoo.
A QAS spokeswoman said the pedestrian was stuck by a vehicle at Stanley St East and Cavendish Road about 10:50pm.
“He was taken to the Princess Alexandra hospital with possible internal bleeding due to a closed head injury,” she said.
