Annastacia Palaszczuk listed her long-term beachside investment property for sale just four days after resigning as a member of parliament.
The former premier put her spacious Sunrise Beach apartment – which property records reveal she purchased in 2012 for $370,000 – was listed for sale on January 4 for $975,000.
It was listed days after Ms Palaszczuk resigned as Premier on December 15 and from parliament on December 31 following 17 years in as the Member for Inala.
While her Sunrise Beach property is expected to sell, Ms Palaszczuk will continue to own a home at Seventeen Mile Rocks and a unit at Main Beach on the Gold Coast.
Her exit as Premier in December after almost nine years in the top job meant an end to the $444,663 annual salary, with Ms Palaszczuk jokingly acknowledging she had “no job”.
The Sunrise Beach property listing targets people looking for a slice of the laid-back lifestyle, asking: “Do you have an irresistible urge to escape for weekends to the beach?”
Ms Palaszczuk has kept a low profile since her shock exit in December.
While she did not attend the December 15 Labor caucus meeting to vote on her replacement or the swearing in of Premier Steven Miles, Ms Palaszczuk was days later snapped with friends at Rick Shores in Burleigh Heads for a birthday celebration for Jodie Slattery, wife of tech rich-lister Bevan Slattery.
Ms Palaszczuk’s two-bed, two-bathroom Sunrise Beach property is located metres away from the ocean in an area which, like most of Queensland, experienced significant growth in property prices following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Figures by Realestate.com.au reveals the median price of two-bedroom units at Sunrise Beach is $805,000 – up from the $512,000 in April 2021.
In the past 12 months, however, the suburb’s prices have declined 6.4 per cent.
