The official poster of a new feature film shot in and around Alice Springs has finally jumped into the public-eye, featuring the film’s stars as well as some joeys.
Kangaroo is a family-friendly comedy about ex TV personality, Chris Masterman, who becomes stranded in an outback town outside of Alice Springs.
Here he teams up with 12-year-old Indigenous girl Charlie.
The pair form an unlikely friendship and work together to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned joeys in the remote community.
The film is based on the real life story of Chris “Brolga” Barnes, the man behind the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs.
Kangaroo was shot in and around Alice Springs and Bondi Beach last year, with the film set to hop into cinemas on September 18, 2025.
Ryan Corr stars in the lead role, with newcomer Lily Whiteley making her screen debut as Charlie.
Ernie Dingo, Deborah Mailman, Roy Billing, and others star in supporting roles in the Studiocanal produced film — the same studio that brought Paddington to the screens of families around the country.
Kate Woods has directed the movie, with Screen Territory director Jennie Hughes describing the feature as a “crowd-pleasing delight”.
The production supported 150 local jobs in Alice Springs and engaged about 100 businesses, Ms Hughes said in November last year.
