Police arrest man after armed servo robbery

DETECTIVES have arrested and charged a man over the armed robbery of a service station on Friday night.

UPDATE, 1.30PM: Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have arrested and charged a 22-year old Oakey man with armed robbery, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and contravene direction.

The man has been refused police bail and is expected to appear before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court in relation to the matters tomorrow.

SATURDAY: Detectives are investigating after a man armed with a tomahawk robbed a service station in Oakey last night (Friday). 

Just after 6.30pm, a man entered the Bridge Street business armed with a tomahawk, carrying a green shopping bag.

Police said he approached the counter, threatened the two employees and motioned for one of them to open the cash register. 

The man then left on foot with a sum of cash and cigarettes. 

No one was physically injured during the incident. 

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
