BREAKING: Developers have revealed plans to create a new housing precinct in Toowoomba that will have its own supermarket, aquatic centre and pub.

The landmark land release that including 1500 housing lots, is coming to south-west Toowoomba.

The housing development, slated as one of the largest in the region, will be built in Westbrook.

The Fernleigh development is a master-planned community which is proposed to include 1500 residential lots, a Coles supermarket, tavern and specialty retail.

It will also include a childcare centre, aquatic centre and community facilities.

The precinct will be bounded by Boundary St and Shoesmith Rd.

The Chronicle understands plans were lodged with Toowoomba Regional Council yesterday afternoon, but they have yet to be processed.

The project is at the very early stages and a long approval process is expected.
