IS IT really a surprise to see Toowoomba among Queensland’s top real estate performers?

OUR SAY: Is it really a surprise to see Toowoomba among Queensland's top real estate performers?

Newtown's ranking as our top suburb may surprise but I'm not shocked by Toowoomba's overall performance.

Aside from a beach or a professional sports team what more could you want from a city?

Years ago I moved away with my young growing family to Mackay for a work opportunity.

Deep down I always knew I'd be back though.

It's a great city and region to raise a family - great schools, parks and sporting facilities but it's also a great place for young professionals and singles.

There are great employment opportunities and it's not too far away from great leisure destinations such as Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

Just as importantly though - just like the REIQ statistics show - it's affordable.

It's a great place for families and singles because it's the type of place you can afford to live in.

Having great schools, opportunities and being ideally placed mean nothing if it's not affordable.

I have a sneaking suspicion my wife and I would've made our move back work even if it wasn't affordable though.

Toowoomba is just that good a city in my mind.
