FLANNERYS Organic and Wholefood Market Toowoomba, previously Wray Organic, will be throwing its newly-revamped doors open to the public this weekend with a huge range of health supplies and free health advice on offer.
Flannerys marketing manager Kate Lyons said the reception from the local community has so far been wonderful on all accounts.
"People are constantly coming in and thanking us for saving the store - they really rely on it for their organic products and gluten free needs," Ms Lyons said.
There are now 12 Flannerys stores across Queensland and the Toowoomba store has had a big upgrade.
Fridge capacity has been increased three-fold from what there was when it was Wray Organic, the bulk food offering now has six times the space, there are two on-site local naturopaths offering free health advice, a café, on-site peanut butter machine, gluten-free products galore as well as all the regular health supplies.
The new owners, Queensland's leading organic and wholefood store were also committed to saving the jobs of all the local staff members who were previously employed by Wrays Organic.
"We kept on all the staff and hired more," Ms Lyons said, adding that Toowoomba wasn't on Flannerys' radar, but they decided to acquire the store after being contacted by the liquidators in March.
"We thought this is a fantastic store and the town has all these wonderful people with the same values as us, so we decided to save the store and build it up.
"We have been working hard to bring the prices down on organic produce, nuts and everyday staples such as milk, bread and eggs, which makes healthy living more accessible.
"We are very community focused up here, it's all about grass-roots, eating from the earth.
"In Toowoomba we have noticed that a lot of shoppers are having to travel quite far to get into town, they are shopping for the week, or a couple of weeks - quite the opposite to the 'grab-and-go' and 'eat-on-the-go' culture, which is great to see."
Opening weekend events include live music, face painting and big specials across the store, including $2 coffee.
