Like all iconic events, The Chronicle Garden Competition is always evolving.

And that is only possible with the support of the council and major sponsors Heritage Bank.

Council and The Chronicle will work together to help residents and visitors find their way around a huge number of manicured lawns.

This year cash prizes will be introduced.

That strategy has been supported by Cr Sommerfield who said the money would be reinvested back into the community.

That makes good sense. Some cash also will be spent on gardener workshops - to encourage residents even more to upgrade their gardens.

The garden competition and the Carnival of Flowers are bound together to produce a most memorable September for all.

We are looking forward to an amazing 10 days.
