June 12, 12pm: NT Police have charged a 38-year-old who crashed his car evading police while allegedly in possession of more than 240kg of kava.

Police say they initially tried to stop the driver along the Ramingining goat track on May 29 before he allegedly took off as officers exited their vehicle.

Police spotted the same vehicle about 20 minutes later crashed and abandoned on the side of the road.

They allege 241.55kg of kava was found in the vehicle.

The man was eventually found and arrested at Darwin Airport attempting to flee interstate.

He was charged with possess commercial quantity kava, supply commercial quantity kava and Enter Aboriginal Land without a Permit.

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on June 18 with investigations ongoing.

Police urge anyone with information on the supply of alcohol or drugs into remote communities can call police on 131 444 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Man allegedly smashes government vehicles in Wadeye

June 12, 12pm: Wadeye Police have called for assistance following three separate incidents in the remote NTcommunity on Sunday and early Monday.

At 3.50pm a man entered the Wadeye clinic yard and allegedly used a rock to smash the windows and side mirrors to two government vehicles before fleeing, leaving behind a damage bill of about $20,000.

Police attended and reviewed vision of the incident, which identified a person of interest.

The following morning at around 12.40am, a man attended the police compound and began

throwing objects at officers, who responded with capsicum spray before the male fled the scene.

Police believe the two incidents are related but also want to hear from anybody with details about an earlier incident when police observed a suspicious vehicle driving through Wadeye at about 10.30pm.

The vehicle began flashing its lights at police and when pursued, fled into nearby bushland.

A short time later police attempted to arrest the driver, who again failed to stop prompting another police pursuit.

Sleeping woman allegedly indecently assaulted in Parap

June 11, 4.30pm: Police are calling for information after a woman was allegedly indecently assaulted in her home overnight.

Police say that at about 11.40pm in Parap, a woman woke up to a naked man indecently assaulting her in her own bed.

The victim was able to push the alleged offender off before he fled the scene, allegedly stealing a camera on the way out.

The alleged offender is described as being approximately 20 years of age, slim build, with dark skin and approximately 180cms to 185cms tall.

The NT Police Force Sex Crimes Section have carriage of the incident.
