Three women have been caught on camera using Chanel lipstick to deface a campaign poster for Teal MP Zali Steggall on Sydney’s lower north shore.
A video of the incident, recorded by a home security camera on Cobbittee St in Mosman at 12.16pm on Thursday, has circulated online.
“You’ve ruined it,” one of the group says before the woman who drew on the sign realises what she’s used.
“F---, it was Chanel,” she exclaims.
“Why’d you let me do that?”
The third woman can then be heard instructing the vandal on what to do next.
“Do piggy things on her nose,” she says.
Warringah MP Ms Steggall told the Mosman Collective, which first published the video, it was “really disappointing to see vandalism in our community”.
“It shows disrespect for others property and goes against the values of respectful political discourse,” she said.
“I call on all members of our community to show respect for each other’s property and engage in respectful and constructive political dialogue.”
A NSW Police spokeswoman said she was unaware of the incident.
It follows another incident of election signage sabotage earlier this week, when Teal MP Monique Ryan was forced to apologise for husband Peter Jordan’s actions after he was filmed removing a sign promoting rival candidate Amelia Hamer.
