A Tamworth councillor will face court next month after allegedly spraying graffiti on a local business.
Mark Rodda was issued with a future court attendance notice on Tuesday following an investigation into a March 16 incident.
Police alleged offensive graffiti was sprayed on an office on Bourke St in Tamworth.
Rodda has been charged with damaging or destroying property.
When approached for comment, Rodda referred inquiries to his solicitor.
The alleged incident took place a few days after Rodda had been censured by other members of Tamworth Regional Council for breaching the code of conduct.
He had posted on Facebook last year describing the council’s internal communications team as “The Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda”, a reference to the unit established by the Nazis in 1933.
Rodda said he had “offered conciliation on this issue more than five times”.
