Two of the biggest teams in soccer will face off in Sydney for a blockbuster London derby, while superstar Sam Kerr is set to strap on the boots for Chelsea for the first time in Australia.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will headline the Sydney Super Cup in August next year, in a major tourism coup set to inject $25m into the visitor economy.

Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers will round out the four-team men’s cup.

The cup will feature a face-off between Chelsea and Tottenham for a historic “London derby” at Accor Stadium.

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal that Chelsea FC Women will take on the A-League Women All Stars in an exhibition match boasting Matildas fan favourites Kerr and Ellie Carpenter.

The Sydney Super Cup kicks off at Accor Stadium on July 29 with a match between Chelsea and the Wanderers.

Tottenham and Chelsea will then face off at Accor on August 1, with Tottenham v Sydney FC rounding out the tournament on August 5 at Allianz Stadium.

Chelsea’s women will then take on the A-League Women All Stars at Allianz Stadium on August 12.

The women’s friendly will be only the second fixture for the A-League Women All Stars, who were defeated 1-0 by the Gunners at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium last year.

The Sydney Super Cup started in 2022 and due to continue in 2025, but the second iteration of the tournament has been pushed out until next year.

Sydney-based Chelsea fan Daniel Walsh watched his team play last time they were in the Harbour City, 10 years ago, and said it was “one of the most memorable matches I have ever been to”.

He said he would be trying to score good seats for next year’s match and hoped it would not be the last time Premier League teams played down under.

“I’ll be doing my best to get as close to the pitch as possible,” Mr Walsh said.

“The Premier League has been considered one of the highest levels of football for generations and the opportunity to witness that is absolutely incredible.

“Some of the best players in the world play in that league and, for a lot of people in Australia, an opportunity to see those players would mean everything.”

Sports Minister Steve Kamper said the announcement was a “another goal” for Sydney.

“These four matches will give visiting fans the chance for an extended stay in our beautiful Harbour City, taking in our iconic natural attractions and vibrant cultural experiences in one of the world’s great sporting destinations,” he said.

“As we work towards our goal of a $91bn visitor economy, major events like this are crucial – they help create memorable experiences that inspire visitors to stay longer, return again and explore more of our great state.”

Tickets go on sale from Friday.
