Detectives have released CCTV footage of a person of interest and a damaged black Honda Jazz as part of their investigation into the fatal stabbing of 34-year-old James Pakis in Belmore earlier this year.

Detectives have released CCTV as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged fatal stabbing of a man in Sydney’s southwest earlier this year.
Just before 9pm on March 15, emergency services were called to a home on Lakemba St in Belmore following reports of a concern for welfare.
Police attended along with paramedics, where a man was found unresponsive, with medical assistance being provided by a second man.
The man, since identified as 34-year-old James Pakis, died at the scene.
The second man, aged 24, was taken to Concord Hospital for treatment and was later released.
A post-mortem examination confirmed Mr Pakis had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Officers, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Sandilands to investigate the death and have conducted extensive inquiries.
Following those inquiries, a 21-year-old man was arrested after attending Bankstown Police Station on March 17.
He was charged with murder and remains before the courts.
As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives have now released images of a person dressed in black clothing and carrying a blue bag, who was picked up by a vehicle on a nearby street.
The vehicle is described as a black Honda Jazz with damage to the rear windscreen.
Detective Inspector Craig Brooks described the alleged murder of James Pakis as “horrific”, as police continue to search for a person of interest driving a black Honda around the scene.
Detective Brookes said police have exhausted all “current investigative strategies”, leading to them asking the public for assistance.
“That footage is on the night, and shortly after the alleged murder,” he said.
“At this stage, based on the investigation, we believe they have knowledge of this alleged murder.”
He said the occupants of the vehicle may be able to assist police with their inquiries.
“Anyone who recognises this vehicle or has any information on its whereabouts is urged to come forward,” Det Insp Brooks said.
“Our detectives are examining every piece of CCTV and following every lead, but we believe someone must know something, and no piece of information is too small.”
