Nemingha: Jason Ali Khan, 54, charged with drug and property offences near Tamworth

A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with drug and property offences following an investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the New England.

A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with drug and property offences following an investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the New England.

Jason Ali Khan, 54, was arrested hours after a raid on a property in Nemingha, about eight kilometres east of Tamworth, on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Oxley Police District detectives executed the search warrant on Johnson St about 7.50am and allegedly seized methylamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis and buprenorphine.

Officers also allegedly seized imitation firearms “as well as items believed to be stolen including cash, electronic devices, hand and power tools, fishing equipment and car accessories”, police said in a statement.

Khan was arrested about 2.40pm on Wednesday and later charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited drug, three counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol, two counts of recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime (greater than $5000), supplying a prohibited drug (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity), as well as several property offences and breaching bail.

Khan faced Bail Division Court 5 on Thursday where he was not required to enter any pleas.

He was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear before Tamworth Local Court on December 15.
