Merrylands explosion leaves man in critical condition

A man in his 50s has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after an explosion that occurred while he was barbecuing in Sydney’s west.

A man in his 50s has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after an explosion in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to a house in Merrylands just after 6pm on Monday.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said an aerosol can containing oil had exploded while the man was barbecuing, leaving him with burns to his face.

Paramedics rushed the man to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he is now being treated for his injuries.
