A man and woman have escaped uninjured after a fierce blaze tore through their home in Sydney’s south west early on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to the fire on Tarlington Parade in Bonnyrigg Heights shortly before 5am, following reports of flames and thick smoke pouring from the property.

Firefighters arrived to find the home already well alight, with flames taking hold of the structure and causing a significant portion of the roof to collapse.

The man and woman inside the property managed to flee before fire crews arrived, avoiding injury.

Multiple fire crews battled the blaze for several hours in an effort to contain the flames and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring homes.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire.
