The race for the federal seat of Bradfield remains on a knife edge, with Liberal candidate Gisele Kapterian holding a narrow lead of 182 votes over Independent challenger Nicolette Boele as of late Tuesday afternoon.
The count reflects a 3.31 per cent swing toward Boele.
With 86.1 per cent of the vote counted, Bradfield is now the last undecided seat in the 2025 federal election, and neither side has yet claimed victory.
The electorate, which includes affluent North Shore suburbs such as Lindfield, Wahroonga, and Turramurra, has long been a Liberal stronghold.
However, In 2022 Boele came close to unseating former Liberal frontbencher Paul Fletcher, setting the stage for another strong challenge this year.
As of yesterday, only a few thousand postal votes remain to be counted and the Australian Electoral Commission has confirmed that if the final margin falls below 100 votes after preferences are distributed, an automatic full recount will be triggered.
