A Genesis Owusu concert was dramatically stopped just two songs in because the floor of the Enmore Theatre has caved in on Thursday night.
Videos online show the floor buckling as Enmore Theatre staff cleared the floor. The theatre was evacuated.
The clearly disappointed crowd can be heard complaining when told to clear the area, but the ARIA Award-winning Aussie singer, real name Kofi Owusu-Ansah, calmed his fans down.
“There’s like a real big drop under there, so this is actually really dangerous,” he said.
“You guys are super-sick … we’re gonna have to reschedule the show because this is like a four metre drop.
“I love you all, you guys have been amazing. This is really shit.”
CarlitosM posted to social media that there was “too much excitement, jumping: massive crack …”

The Enmore Theatre, which dates back to 1908, is a popular venue in Sydney’s inner west, billing itself as “the home of Australia’s best live music, theatre and comedy”.
One regular at the 2500-capacity venue said it had been extensively refurbished within the past 12 months.
Upcoming shows include The Whitlams, Noiseworks, Alfie Browne and a host of comedians. Young Franco and Kig Gizzard are due to play within the next week.
The collapse is yet another blow for music fans who have had to endure multiple disappointments as Covid restrictions postponed shows.
“Luckily it’s a new carpet? Sort of glad the Rubens was deferred now. Hope it’s fixed by April. Not a 4th postponement surely?” lamented @drwarwick on Twitter.
“Wow. @genesisowusu crowd has broken the floor at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney,” @emritchiewrites tweeted. “The floor has sunk in the middle of the mosh. Show rescheduled, no one hurt expect a lot of hearts desperate to see this rising star perform.”
The Enmore Theatre could not be contacted for comment, and police and paramedics said they had not been called to the venue.
