Fairfield convenience store robber Jaymilee Green to be sentenced

A woman in a Spider-Man mask attempted to rob a southwest Sydney shop armed with a gyprock saw, before she was overpowered by the clerk and his friend, court documents show.

A heroic convenience store clerk and his friend managed to overpower a knife-wielding female robber wearing a Spider-Man mask.

Jaymilee Green, 31, pleaded guilty in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday to a charge of assault with intent to rob the store.

On October 7 last year at 6.30pm, Green walked into a Fairfield convenience store in Sydney’s southwest wearing dark pants, a grey jumper and a Spider-Man mask, according to court documents.

Police facts state Green pulled a 10cm gyprock cutter which was hidden in a pouch at the front of her jumper, and demanded money and cigarettes from store worker Abas Nazari, who was being visited at work by his friend Jarah Aljorani.

The store’s CCTV captured a masked Green pointing the blade at Nazari.

“Mr Nazari can be seen grabbing the offender’s backpack,” the police facts state.

“Mr Nazari then grabbed hold of the offender’s hand with the assistance of Mr Aljorani, who managed to remove the saw from her hand and force her outside.”

Green was then forced outside, where she fell to the ground and her face mask was removed.

Police attended the scene at 7pm and placed Green under arrest, taking her to Fairfield police station.

The police facts state a constable asked Green why she committed the act.

Green responded: “I need money for my son, I’m late on bills … just to get money.”

The maximum potential penalty for the charge is 14 years’ imprisonment.

Magistrate Peter Feather committed Green to Parramatta District Court for sentencing on August 8.
