Broulee man Dylan Watts dies after bacterial infection leaves 72 holes in lungs

A woman has been left shattered after her brother died just days before his 29th birthday following a bacterial infection which left 72 holes in his lungs.

The sister of a young man who tragically died after battling a bacterial infection and which left his lungs with more than 72 irreparable holes, has opened up about her grief.

Broulee man Dylan Watts was just 28-years-old when he died on Saturday, three days out from his 29th birthday.

“There is a fragility in all of us,” his heartbroken sister Caitlyn said. .

“Dylan’s memory and story will be remembered by many who loved him and he will be forever missed.”

Ms Watts said doctors treating her brother noted he would be “lucky” to make it to 30 given the severity of the bacteria, however, she said despite the grim diagnosis, their family was still shocked following Dylan’s untimely death.

“Let this be a reminder that those you love can be gone in an instant,” she said.

“Hold them close and tell them you love them.”

In a bid to help the grief-stricken Broulee family navigate the trying time, family friend Cheyenne O’Brien has organised a GoFundMe to help ease the burden.

She said the funds raised would be used for the young man’s funeral in order to “give him the send-off he deserves”.

“Although Dylan had been unwell, this has of course come as a shock to his loved ones who are now having to deal with not only their grief, but the stress of having to organise his farewell,” Ms O’Brien said.

“To help Dylan’s family be able to celebrate his life, please donate if you can and share.”
