Australian sporting “It” couple — Matildas star Mary Fowler and rugby league ace Nathan Cleary — have been spotted in Sydney ahead of the soccer sensation’s match in Adelaide this week.
The loved-up pair were seen smiling and holding hands at Sydney airport on Monday morning, as Fowler checked her bags at the Qantas Terminal and farewelled Penrith Panthers boyfriend Cleary.
Fowler is set to line up for the Matildas in the green and gold on Friday at Adelaide Oval, as they face off against China PR ahead of their Olympic Games campaign in Paris in July.
The adored sporting power couple sat at the airport and took pictures of each other and selfies together with a disposable camera, before Cleary wheeled Fowler’s bags to the departure gate.
They also stopped on their way to security to take a couple of quick flicks with fans who gawked at the sight of the beloved Aussie sporting union.
Fowler, 21, and Cleary, 26, went public with their relationship in November last year after speculation ran rampant after the pair were spotted getting an ice cream together.
Cleary spent the better part of six months trying to keep a lid on his relationship with Fowler, until the legendary halfback made a tongue-in-cheek reference to dating the striker in January.
“That’s life”, he captioned a photo of Fowler with an ice cream emoji, referencing early paparazzi shots of a date they had.
The tiny detail became an instant hit with social media users who lapped up the image of the two on the beach.
Fowler “hard launched” the relationship on April 15, as she posted nine photos with aa black and white photo of her and Cleary leading the way.
The sporting superstars have previously shared photos of one another on their respective Instagram accounts, but the images have been buried inside carousels.
They were also spotted at reuniting at a coffee shop in Cronulla before the Panthers’ game against the Sharks in the Shire at the weekend.
Cleary is currently sidelined after suffering a grade-two hamstring injury during the Panthers’ 16-10 win over the Bulldogs a fortnight ago and has missed State of Origin selection as a result.
