An elderly man has died in hospital after a serious crash in the state’s north last week.
Just after 3.30pm on Monday, November 4, emergency services were called to Teven Rd at Tuckombil, near Ballina, after it was reported two cars – a Hyundai Venue and a Nissan Juke – had collided.
The 87-year-old male passenger of the Hyundai suffered a medical episode as a result of the crash.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the Hyundai – a 62-year-old woman – and her second passenger – an 87-year-old woman – were treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital.
The 62-year-old driver of the Nissan also suffered minor injuries, a NSW Police spokesman said.
The 87-year-old man was later transferred to Lismore Base Hospital, where he died on Monday. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
NSW Police Force’s Crash Investigation Unit have launched a probe around the circumstances of the crash.
