The NT Health Minister has tested positive for Covid-19.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles and her eldest son have tested positive for Covid-19.

Ms Fyles posted of her diagnosis on social media.

“My oldest son and I have both tested positive to COVID19 over the weekend,” she wrote.

“The usual Covid symptoms of aches, fever, sore throat and a sniffle but all very mild.

“Thank you to the NT Health team for all your hard work around the clock; seeing it from the patient perspective makes me proud.

“I’ll be resting but also keeping in touch with team remotely.”

Ms Fyles’ other son had previously tested positive.

Minister’s Covid scare

THE Territory has recorded a second parliamentary Covid scare, with a family member of the Health Minister testing positive.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles has confirmed she will be in isolation for the next seven days.

Ms Fyles said her son tested positive for Covid with the family starting their isolation period late Thursday.

In a Facebook post Ms Fyles joked it was not the Friday night they had planned.

“Covid has made a presence in our house with my youngest son Henry testing positive last night,” she wrote.

“The rest of the family is feeling well and negative at this stage.”

Mr Fyles said she is thinking of all the Territorians with Covid.

It comes as the Territory records 1004 new cases overnight, with elective and day surgeries paused.

EARLIER: GOVERNMENT Minister Paul Kirby has become the first Labor frontbencher to contract Covid-19.

Mr Kirby was initially expected to front a press conference on Tuesday on the popular MyDarwin scheme, but has since cancelled.

He is believed to be the first government Minister to contract Covid-19.

“By way of an update, I’d like to let you know that I’ve contracted Covid-19 and will be bunkering down at home this week,” he wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday morning.

“I’m feeling well at present, and my family is doing a great job looking after me – thank you, Bek!

“As the first member of Cabinet to have contracted Covid, I’d like to say how grateful I am to be fully vaccinated and boosted against this virus, which will hopefully ensure this illness remains mild.

“Thank you for those who have sent their well wishes, and I look forward to seeing you all after I’ve isolated and test negative.

“In the meantime, stay well everyone and look after one another.”
