Police seize drugs, ammunition from stolen NT motorhome

Police have arrested a man with a stolen motorhome, drugs and ammunition in the Darwin CBD.

Strike Force Trident and Darwin general duties officers on January 22, 2025 arrested a 59-year-old man in relation to a stolen motorhome as well as firearms and drug possession.

Strike Force Trident and Darwin general duties officers on Wednesday arrested a 59-year-old man in relation to a stolen motorhome.

Police found the stolen Mercedes motorhome on Litchfield St in the Darwin CBD at about 9.30am.

Police said in a statement they observed ammunition inside the stolen vehicle, which prompted a lawful search of the motorhome and the 59-year-old’s accommodation at the nearby Cavenagh Hotel.

The search uncovered a quantity of methamphetamine, ammunition, pepper spray, drug implements, an imitation firearm and stolen ID and bank cards belonging to over 50 victims.

Police said the male was charged with numerous drug, weapon and property offences.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court.

Acting Senior Sergeant Christopher Humphries acknowledged the good policing work of officers.

“This was a significant recovery, and I applaud the hardworking members of Strike force Trident and Darwin General Duties for their efforts,” he said.

“Our detectives are currently contacting those who have had their items stolen.

“The actions of this individual are completely unacceptable, and we will continue to prosecute those who break the law.”
