Beaver Brewery break-in

IN A plot twist ending to a tale as old as time, a kid who broke into Beaver Brewery in Coconut Grove this week has been offered the chance to work back his debt.

Owner Chris Brown said it was a bit of a fluke he was able to track down the offender the day after he saw what had happened on his security vision.

He was then able to “make it a life experience” and explain what he had done wrong.

“I said I’d give him the opportunity to come back and pay it off,” he said.

“It’s a good result that I found him and was able to explain and enforce a few things.”

Mr Brown’s footage showed the young man breaking in and going through the fridges before taking a money box.

He called the police after the incident and told them not to worry about an investigation.

Mr Brown said he received an outpouring of support after he posted about it on Instagram.

“We got some good responses and everyone was upset and felt bad for us,” he said.

“In the grand scheme it was a only couple of hundred dollars, it was just more the inconvenience and the hassle of it.”

“Within our industry break-ins have become common practice and something that is part of the business — It’s terrible but it’s true.”
