THE Northern Territory has revoked the hotspot declarations for the Sydney Domestic Airport and Canberra Airport.
The declaration was removed at 6pm on Wednesday.
Anyone currently in mandatory supervised quarantine who had transited through Sydney Domestic Airport or Canberra Airport only is able to exit.
However anyone who transits through Sydney Airport or Canberra Airport after 6pm on September 1 must self-isolate, get tested and remain in isolation until a negative test is returned.
“We remain deeply concerned about the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in NSW the ACT. These regions will continue to remain hotspots,” said chief health officer Hugh Heggie.
“For those transiting through Sydney and Canberra Airports only, the hotspot has been lifted. However, as an added precaution, we have introduced an isolate and test direction for those people entering the NT to ensure an ongoing layer of protection.
“I encourage all eligible Territorians to roll up their sleeves and get the COVID-19 vaccine. Don’t wait until tomorrow, make sure you book today.”
New South Wales and the ACT remain Covid-19 hotspots for the purposes of travelling to the NT.
People with an approved exemption to travel, who have been in a declared hotspot, are required to undertake 14 days of mandatory supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities.
Anyone who has undertaken quarantine interstate and then travels to the Territory must also have day three post-quarantine Covid-19 test
Those people are required to enter into supervised mandatory quarantine upon arrival into the Northern Territory and remain there until a negative test is returned.
