Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis has invited the community to come and take part in an event that “reflects what this space is all about: people, place and community.”

“In addition to the newly created infrastructure, we’ve also put together a fantastic line-up of entertainment and activities,” he said.

“The community can expect street food vendors serving up delicious eats and treats, with free food giveaways from 4pm so bring your picnic blanket or camp chair and make a night of it.”

The festivities will feature popular Darwin entertainer Fairy Jill, who will be face painting, blowing giant bubbles, and running a circus workshop.

LED fairy performers will be lighting up the park between 5:30pm to 6pm.

Fairy Jill will be joined by players from the Darwin Salties national champions wheelchair basketball team, who alongside the Darwin Basketball Association will be running dribbling and shooting drills and a ‘come and try’ wheelchair activity, with giveaways up for grabs.
