UPDATE: THREE new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded overnight, including a repatriated Australian already in quarantine.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner said there were two local cases: a 33-year-old woman who is the mother of a student at Katherine’s MacFarlane Primary School.

The woman has connections to a previous positive case and her child has thus far returned two negative tests.

The second local case is a 67-year-old Katherine man. A third case was recorded in the international side of the Centre for National Resilience.

Four people in total are in Royal Darwin Hospital being treated for Covid-19. Acting chief health officer Charles Pain said an elderly woman, who required oxygen last week, was now off oxygen and progressing well.

In the last 24 hours, 2517 tests were processed in the Northern Territory, including 1170 in Katherine and 157 in Rockhole.

There is a total of 423 close contacts identified, with three yet to be located.

One new close contact site was identified, the Katherine Centrelink on November 15 between 9.40am and 10.30am.

In response to the current results, Robinson River will enter lockout while Katherine will stay in lockdown until Wednesday 6pm.

Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker said eight people left Binjari’s hard lockdown area, including six adults who were fined $5024.

EARLIER: CHIEF Minister Michael Gunner will provide a Covid-19 update on Monday morning.

Nine cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the Aboriginal community of Binjari on Saturday.

Significant resources were deployed to Binjari and nearby community Rockhole to support residents and the areas were placed into a hard lockdown.

There are about 230 residents in Binjari and about 130 in Rockhole.

A mask mandate was issued for communities in the West Daly and Roper Gulf local government areas, while Greater Katherine and Robinson River will remain in lockdown at least until Monday evening.
