Monday, December 8, 2pm: A woman has been hospitalised in Alice Springs after she was allegedly assaulted by her partner with a broken bottle, police say.

NT Police alleged the assault occurred at Sadadeen, suburban Alice Springs, on Sunday evening, with a 48-year-old man arrested in relation to the alleged assault.

The woman – whose age was not provided – was left with “serious but non-life-threatening injuries” after the alleged assault, police said.

The man is expected to be charged on Monday, police said.

Police said investigations are continuing into the alleged assault and urged anyone with information to contact police on 131 444.

Used syringe wielded in alleged Alice hospital rampage, cops say

Monday, December 8, 6.30am:

A woman who allegedly threatened hospital staff with a used syringe has been charged.

NT Police Southern Watch Commander Marc Watson said the woman, aged 19, was arrested on Sunday morning after an alleged rampage at Alice Springs Hospital emergency department, which police were alerted to just before 10am.

“The woman allegedly threatened staff and security, and when security attempted to escort the woman outside, she allegedly “dug her fingernails into a security guard, drawing blood,” Mr Watson said.

He said outside, the woman allegedly threatened security with a used syringe, and also allegedly damaged the glass doors of the hospital.

“Patients in the ED waiting area were escorted to another area as the woman was locked outside Mr Watson said.

“The woman was arrested has been charged with damage to property, being armed with an offensive weapon, and assaulting a worker.”

She is due to appear in the Alice Springs court on Monday.
