As the demand for more transparency with NT vaccination rates grows, one industry is among many saying their future depends on this information to survive.

Analysis: Australia’s vaccine rollout

HOSPITALITY workers say more transparency with NT vaccination rates will give them greater confidence to navigate through the future Covid-19 world.

Calls from hospitality and other industries for the release of detailed vaccination data are mounting, with many businesses concerned they won’t be prepared to progress without them. The Deck Bar food and beverage manager Derek Duffy said it was important for workers to have certainty. “It would be great to see the stats and be told what’s going to happen and how,” he said. “It seems to be very hush hush.”

Hospitality NT chief executive Alex Bruce said NT businesses were lagging behind their interstate counterparts without the data.

“Already our businesses are being asked nationally and internationally what their 12 month forecasts are and their interstate counterparts are on an easier path,” he said. “It’s critically important for our industry both in terms of domestic border closures and impending lockdowns. Both of them rip our industry to shreds.”
