A DARWIN man has been charged with accessing child abuse material following an investigation by police.

On August 22 NT Police executed a search warrant on a residence in Berrimah where two computers and a data storage device were seized.

Later on August 27 detectives from the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team arrested the man and charged him with three counts of using carriage service to access child abuse material.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court on Monday.

Detective Acting Sergeant Maree Scott said the behaviour was unacceptable.

“The investigation shows the importance of multi-agency operations working together to apprehend those in our community who pose a serious risk to those vulnerable in our community,” she said.

“The Northern Territory JACET will continue to work with national and international partners to keep the community safe.”
