Baby Zeron Fejo born on the Stuart Hwy in Coolalinga

The newest member of the Fejo family was in a hurry to be born, not even waiting for the traffic lights to turn red when he arrived. Now the Darwin bub has quite the story to tell when he turns 21.

The Fejo family will have an interesting story to tell at their son Zeron’s 21st birthday party.

The one-week-old was so eager to be earth-side he arrived in the car on the way to the hospital.

Now his birth certificate reads that his place of birth is at the “Coolalinga lights”.

“His head popped out at the lights and then halfway through the lights the rest of the body came out,” his mother Jennifer Talbot said.

Ms Talbot went to hospital in the early stages of labour, but was told to head back home and wait it out.

Seconds after they to Acacia Hills her water broke.

Ms Talbot’s partner Adam Fejo, best friend Lewis Malay and “firstborn child” (pet dog) Whistler piled into the car to head back to Royal Darwin Hospital, but Zeron was already on his way.

“We stopped at the lights in the middle of the road and then went over to the servo to wait for the ambulance,” Ms Talbot said.

“His brother (Whistler) was in the car just watching and freaking out I guess,” she said.

Mr Malay added proudly: “And I caught him (the baby)”.

The Coolalinga United servo workers were alerted to the situation unfolding in their car park when Mr Malay ran in and hurriedly asked for bottles of water.

Ms Talbot, a first-time mother, reflected on the unique experience as a painful one.

“All I was thinking about was the pain,” she said.

“I was too exhausted to hold him and I was just saying you mob need to grab him.”

She said telling her son his birth story would be an interesting conversation.

“How would we explain that? We don’t even know,”Ms Talbot said.

Despite the dramatic nature of his birth, both parents are smitten with their newest arrival and said he had a “good set of lungs” on him.
