UPDATE: A NINE-WEEK-OLD blue heeler puppy has been reunited with her owner two days after “atrocious” thieves broke into an Alice Springs residence and stole her.

Following a “very emotional” few days putting posters up around town, Milos Nagy said he burst into tears when he found his puppy, Nushka.

Mr Nagy said a family contacted him to say they had spotted the puppy sitting outside a house in Braitling and showed him to the location.

“She’s just ran up to me and she latched on to me,” he said.

“I just wanted to get the pup and get her home.”

Mr Nagy said Nushka was a special present from his dad, who drove thousands of kilometres from regional New South Wales to collect the dog in South Australia before bringing her to Alice Springs.

“My dad is terminally ill, so we haven’t got that long left and the dog was a present from him,” he said. “With everything that’s going on, it’s all a lot right now, but to get Nushka back has been a beautiful thing.”

EARLIER: THE owner of a nine-week-old blue heeler that was stolen from his son’s Alice Springs residence has put up a $1000 reward for the puppy’s safe return.

David Baker said he drove thousands of kilometres from his home in regional New South Wales to South Australia to pick up the puppy, Nushka, for his son.

“The pup was very special to us and has devastated us,” he said.

“A $1000 dollar reward is on offer, no questions (asked).

“That pup represents love and comfort.”

NT Police Senior Sergeant Vicki Koum said the much loved blue heeler puppy, named Nushka, was stolen from a home in Braitling on Mcrae Ct.

“To steal someone's very much loved family pet is just … no words for it – atrocious,” Sgt Koum said.

Sgt Koum said Nushka was stolen between Saturday October 30 at 8pm and Sunday October 31 at 6.20am.

“If anyone has any information please contact police, we want to do everything we can to return the pet to it’s family and reunite them,” she said.

“It’s microchipped I believe, so if it goes to the vet at any point hopefully it gets picked up at that time.”
