A TOP Nexus executive said the business was concerned about the number of safety incidents that had occurred during the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing project.

Nexus Infrastructure CEO John Hagan said the company "welcomed" the opportunity to meet with Queensland Government ministers Grace Grace and Mark Bailey on Friday to discuss safety concerns surrounding the project.

On Thursday the government intervened in the project after 87 notices for health and safety breaches in two years, which included 17 plant rollovers on site, a figure which Minister Grace said was "frankly... unacceptable".

"The meeting between Ms Grace, Mr Bailey and Nexus in Toowoomba was constructive with additional solutions discussed which will be implemented and measured as construction continues," Mr Hagan said.

"Nexus' safety culture is one of continuous improvement and while our overall safety standard is high, we remain concerned about the number of incidents involving plant on the project."

Mr Hagan said the company was undergoing an internal restructure and reassessing construction methods to reduce risks.

"These actions build on previous measures to increase training for TSRC workforce, staff and subcontractors, implement dedicated plant safety crews, and increase our focus on hazard reporting and sharing lessons learnt," he said.

"We have also implemented processes to reduce the need for our workforce and equipment to work on slopes and difficult terrain," he said.
