WHEN Toymate opens next month, it will be the biggest toy store in Toowoomba.

The huge toy retailer will open its doors at Grand Central on Saturday, August 10.

The 1200sqm store will stock thousands of popular brands and 2019's top sellers including Lego, Barbie, Play-Doh and Fisher Price.

Toymate will be re-hiring up to 10 ex Toys R' Us staff, including a store and area manager.

It comes after 700 staff members lost their jobs nationwide last year.

Founder and CEO Danny Bloom said he was thrilled to be opening Toymate in the Garden City.

He said the store would provide customers with an immersive in-store shopping experience like they had never had before.

"I started Toymate because I was very passionate about providing Australian families the best range of toys at the lowest prices with an amazing customer journey along the way," he said.

"We take pride in offering our customers a price match guarantee, we will be your one-stop shop just in time for Christmas."

To celebrate, Toymate is throwing a huge two day grand opening extravaganza from 9am on August 10 and 11.

There will be a range of free events with activity zones and giveaways, fairy floss, face-painting and a DJ.

Families will also get the chance to meet and greet their favourite characters Elsa and Spiderman.
