HIGHFIELDS is continuing to grow and now residents are being introduced to a new style of living.

A secure, gated residential complex called Highfields Mews is scheduled to start construction in the new financial year.

To be built on 8337sqm, on the New England Highway, the complex will consist of 20 homes, with prices starting from $340,000.

Ray White Toowoomba co principal Lindsay Southwell said the project had been designed with current Highfields residents in mind.

"The target home-owners are people in Highfields who love what the area has to offer but want to downsize," he said.

"They might love the clear air, the open spaces and the great lifestyle but perhaps after years of living on acreage, they are looking for something smaller.

"The property is located right in the middle of the tourist precinct. It's surrounded by restaurants and coffee houses so it's right in the heart of the community."

After two years of planning and research, developers have come up with a modern urban plan to suit the Highfields lifestyle.

Mr Southwell said Highfields was booming at the moment and the planning wasn't rushed to ensure it was exactly what the area needed.

According to the Australian Demographic Statistics, Highfields was the second largest growing area in Queensland between 2014 and 2015 with a 1.9% growth rate.

"Project developers spent a lot of time getting the plans right by working with community groups, real estate agents and the Toowoomba Regional Council," he said.

"It was found there was a gap in the market for a secured, gated complex and we are very excited to move forward with it all. There were a number of plans presented but this final one is a win-win for everyone."

There will be a variety of homes, ranging from two and three bedroom homes, single story and town houses.

Construction is set to be completed about Christmas.
