Man dead, another in hospital after stand-off with police in Tamworth
Police expect to charge a man who was involved in a dramatic standoff with police after another man was found dead inside a Tamworth home.

A man is dead and a second man is under police guard in hospital after he was involved in a dramatic rooftop stand-off with police in Tamworth.
Emergency services raced to the home at Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth about 4.30pm on Saturday for a concerns for welfare check.
Police say they found a 47-year-old man suffering critical head injuries and another 54-year-old man armed with a knife.
The armed man locked himself in a bedroom before climbing onto the roof of the unit block where he was involved in a standoff with police for over an hour.
The injured man was treated by paramedics before being taken to Tamworth Base Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detective Inspector Tom Aylett on Sunday said police would allege the 54-year-old man murdered the other man and expected to charge him in the coming days.
The 54-year-old on Sunday remained in under guard in hospital with non life-threatening injuries and police were yet to interview him.
“A significant line of inquiry is around what led to the incident occurring,” Inspector Aylett said.
“We know the two men were in the house and something has led to that male attacking the 47-year-old male and caused those significant injuries.”
The stand-off ended when the man fell from the roof.
He was treated by paramedics for stab wounds to his chest before being taken to Tamworth Base Hospital.
The street remained shut on Sunday as police scoured the area for evidence.
