From dog washes, electric toothbrushes, iPads, vinyl floorboards, personal training sessions and sex workers - nothing is off limits.
“My friends wants to know can dog washes be funded under NDIS thank you”, one woman asked. Turns out the answer is yes if your disability means you can no longer groom, wash or walk your pet.
Another member wanted to know the “current rules around iPads/laptops in order to access telehealth” - which somewhat drew a mixed response.
“Consumables is where I bought from in Covid,” one person replied. While another offered: “For Telehealth? It comes from core”. While a third stated: “I got a tablet funded from consumables during covid for telehealth. I was told I couldn’t get a laptop”.
A mother asked if the NDIS “would fund the difference in cost between an ensuite site and a powered site” for an upcoming family camping holiday, as her daughter refuses to use public toilet facilities, meaning the family was forced to pay for more expensive cabins with ensuites.
“Does anyone know if I can order my order special gluten free already made meals out of her core supports to encourage healthy eating,” one anonymous poster asked.
“Or would it need to be written in the plan?”
Another woman who has been “aching all over” wanted to know if she would be “able to get a massage session funded through my NDIS money”.
“I’ve been aching all over all week, probably to do with how stressed I’ve been lately, and I’m willing to try anything at this point,” she wrote.
“What would it come under? Would it be a sensory thing? Has anyone else done this before and knows what to do?”.
